Marichka Padalko: CNN's Don Lemon Tonight
I made a pitch to the Don Lemon Tonight team about a Ukrainian news anchor who has been on air since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine. This impactful field interview was broadcasted on Don’s last night in Ukraine. Padalko is one of the few television anchors who chose to remain in Ukraine. She uses her platform to guide Ukraine through the developments of war, while providing tips from shelter etiquette to surviving a chemical weapons attack.
Lady A: the Today Show
On October 26, 2021, Grammy award-winning musical group Lady A performed on the TODAY Show. To prepare for the group’s appearance, I conducted thorough research about the history of the group, as well as each of the member’s current ventures. Spectrum News 1 Ohio's Weekend Pass
During my time with Spectrum News 1 Ohio, I assisted with finding weekend events in different regions of Ohio for Spectrum’s weekly “Weekend Pass.” On July 2, I researched different events that were occurring during the Fourth of July weekend in different regions of Ohio. I contacted venues and event organizers to receive in-depth details about the events to include on Spectrum's website.
The Cauldron
During my time with Cleveland State University's "The Cauldron," I wrote and assisted with multiple stories relating to events occurring in the community. For Black History Month, I wrote an article honoring inspirational African American men and women, titled "Recognizing African-Americans who are making a difference in their communities."
